WebJul 27, 2024 · There is a huge difference because of the wheels. 1300 15" wheels are narrow, making them very difficult to properly seat with more of a bubble in the sidewall. The 16" 1800 wheels are WAY better for going darkside. So it is entirely possible that an Altimax is good on an 1800 wheel, and too spongy on an 1300. WebJun 25, 2011 · It seems somehow that many darkside riders buy up the first tire that will fit that they can get for $20. I think this is taking the penny pinching just a little too far. If you are going to get 100K+ mi out of it why not buy a great tire? it's still very cost effective.
